Dirty Dike ‘Constant Dikestar’

Dirty Dike aka Mr Melonskin has been redefining hip hop and the role it plays on this grotty island ever since he first picked up a pen with the intention of scribbling a verse. His unique style, unrelenting drive, sheer prolificness and complete disregard for morals has seen him gain acclaim across Europe leading him to support some of the games most respected Hip Hop artists such as Ra Rugged man, Necro & Souls of Mischief to name a few. It is fair to say that this is just the beginning of things to come from this Cambridge based lyricist.

Having sealed his place within the UK hip hop scaffold with his debut solo release ‘Bogies and Alcohol’ (2008) and having further cemented his name as one of the most exciting lyricists and exhilarating performers as one/fifth of the infamous supercrew Contact Play, Dirty Dike returns as the newest recruit on the High Focus Roster with his sophomore solo project…

Exploring far more conscious themes than those on which he has made his name, ‘Constant Dikestar’ represents the growth of an artist, both on face value but also throughout the storytelling, the punchlines but most significantly the reflective nature of the lyricism on show on tracks such as ‘Never Seen a Reason’. As an artist, Dike’s enthusiasm and passion never wanes; his belief in his craft and love for the music is a constant and this is apparent in each and every bar on his new record.

Dike is an artist that does not care about clout, swagger, game or status in the UK hip hop scene, he is not interested in fulfilling the stereotypes that seem to dominate, he does not care for shiny trainers and flat peak cap collections, he has never kicked a freestyle about the Evisu jeans with the 412 mini-pockets – all of this is clear on tracks such as ‘Hi I’m James’ which you can see in the official video for this track.

Dirty Dike makes music for only a select few reasons – to express himself, explore his surroundings and have all sorts of jokes. Jokes aside, Constant Dikestar is a release not to be slept on – expect serious waves come March 2011.

Constant Dikestar is being released on High Focus Records and is produced by Mr Constant. It features a long list of guest emcees including Stig of the Dump, Fliptrix, Skuff, Contact Play, The Three Amigos, and many more.
